"Last year. I introduced our new state transparency website, wvCheckbook.gov, to show West Virginians how their taxpayer dollars are being spent. I'm very proud to share that the United States Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG) has named West Virginia the most transparent state in the country thanks to our technology initiative. 

We are proud of this success and know there is yet more work to be done to improve our state's operations, and technology modernization. 

Aging technology and manual financial reporting processes have made it difficult to understand, collect, analyze, and disseminate financial data for both West Virginia cities, and The State. 

I am pleased to announce that The State of West Virginia has partnered with OpenGov to provide West Virginia cities with a modern, easy-to-use reporting solution, which will save time for city staff, enable better internal analysis. and empower both the city leadership and The State, to more easily achieve their mutual objective of serving our constituents and striving for optimal outcomes."
