WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR REQUESTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT?


You may NOT vote in person at the polls on Election Day if you have cast an absentee ballot.
This application must be RECEIVED by your county clerk NO LATER THAN the 6th day before the election.
Absentee Ballot Application

To permenantly be placed on the special absentee voter list, the Application to be Placed on Special Absentee Voting List must be turned into your clerk's office 6 days prior to an election.  The clerk's office will mail you an absentee ballot from then on.

WHEN MAY I SUBMIT MY ABSENTEE APPLICATION?

ABSENTEE APPLICATIONS FROM MILITARY AND OVERSEAS CITIZENS may be received beginning January 1st of an election year.
All other ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS may be received no earlier than 84 days and no later than 6 days prior to an election.  All applications must be received in the office of the county clerk by the close of business on the 6th day prior to the election.  Applications may be mailed, faxed, emailed, or delivered in person.

Emergency Absentee voting requirements – Voter must be confined to a hospital within the county of residence.  Emergency Absentee voting services may be requested no earlier than 7 days prior to an election and no later than noon on election day.  (Application for an Emergency Absentee Ballot)

Military & Overseas Voters

Military personnel and their spouses may register and vote using their last physical address in Cabell County using the Absentee Ballot Application for Military and Overseas Voters.  All military bases provide Federal Post Card Registration Forms which also serve as absentee ballot requests.  Requests may be faxed or emailed for absentee ballots but we must receive the original form to register or make changes to a current registration.
